I don’t know about you, but I don’t want to be too challenged by my summer reading.

However, I do like a little bit of self-improvement if I can manage it.

These three books pass my sunlounger test: full of insights, but engagingly written and easy to read.

I thought you might like them too.

This book introduced me to such gems as ‘leadersh*t’, ‘jargon monoxide’ and ‘being waterboarded by PowerPoint.’

A Stanford professor and a best-selling author tackle some of the frictions that make it harder, more complicated or just plain impossible to get anything done in organisations. Funny and insightful.

The world’s leading expert on megaprojects shows how ‘over-budget and over-schedule’ isn’t inevitable.

With amazing stories of the Sydney Opera House, Apple iPod, Empire State Building and a simple kitchen renovation, we can all learn what NOT to do when it comes to managing projects – big or small, work or at home.

Stanford Lecturer Abrahams shares his practical tips on ‘how to rise to the occasion when we’re unexpectedly put on the spot’.

He shows us how to handle Q&A sessions, job interviews, giving feedback and making small talk making our input ‘concise, relevant, compelling and memorable’.
